If you would like to propose revisions to an existing CIAS course outline, follow these steps:
1. Email Terie Merritt, the CIAS Scheduling Officer, and request a word version of the course outline.
2. Make your proposed revisions using “TRACK CHANGES” under the “REVIEW” tab on your document. Directions can be found here: WIN MAC
3. Email the revised course outline to your school’s curriculum committee representative, along with a completed CIAS Curricula cover form
Minor Course Modifications
Proposals for minor course modifications will be submitted to the school’s curriculum committee and administrative chair. For minor modifications, the school administrative chair is the final approval agency. Notification of any action is sent to the CIAS Undergraduate Curriculum Committee co-chair’s, Barb Birkett and William Snyder or CIAS Graduate Curriculum Committee Chair, Chris Jackson.
Examples of minor modifications to a course include:
course description/repeat for credit/enrollment requirement group
Significant Course Modifications and Special Designations
Proposals for significant course modifications, or courses proposed for special designation (such as Gen ed or Writing Intensive) will be submitted to the school’s curriculum committee and administrative chair. The school’s CIAS Curriculum Committee representative will upload the proposal to the College Curriculum Committee file-share and notify Scheduling Officer (Terie Merritt) and CIAS Undergraduate Curriculum Committee co-chair’s, Barb Birkett and William Snyder or CIAS Graduate Curriculum Committee Chair, Chris Jackson.
Examples of significant course modifications include:
course title, course number, prerequisites, components or contact hour change
